Checking in...

OK so it's been a long while since my last post, guess I'm not yet a quality blogger...always time to work on it!

Tonight we are up in Bellingham. Ron is settting up a new computer for mom since hers went belly up this weekend and she lost everything. I'm here providing moral support. She's handling it amazingly well - much better than I would I think. She took us out to dinner to thank us. Actually, she took me out to dinner while Ron stayed at her house and worked on the machine, so I did nothing and got a lovely soup, salad & glass of wine while Ron slaved away for a long time at the computer only to find he had installed the wrong version of XP (ie: no license key). Of course we did bring him home a lovely dinner while he started ALL OVER AGAIN on Mom's machine.

This wouldn't seem like such a big deal - happens to most of us at least once, but she is also in the middle of a huge remodel so she has no kitchen, has to go upstairs for a bathroom and everything she owns is in boxes in various rooms in her house! It's chaos in the best sense of the word. Admittedly all of her own making, but chaos none-the-less. And to add to this, our dear friend Tom Hunter is dying of an extremely rare neurodegenerative disease which is agressive and devestating not only to Tom, but to all of his family and friends. All in all, a tough couple of weeks!

Mom amazes me, she hasn't been feeling great, but when we arrived she was quite cheery, said she was feeling better and seems to take the loss of data in stride with a "oh well, I did want to clean out my computer, so I guess it's now been done for me!"

I on the other hand am 5 weeks into my new job and still reeling from the whole 8-5 thing! I come home exhausted with no energy and ready to drop into bed. My house is a mess and I'm delinquent on everything from paying bills to scheduling dentist appointments for the girls. I did however sign up to run in the San Francisco Marathon (YOU WHAT???) Not that I have any extra time, but I decided that I needed to commit to something so that I would finally get my butt back into a work-out schedule (and yes, I do mean that literally!)

So, you will likely hear me rant and rave about how much I love running (NOT) over the next few postings (If I'm not so exhausted that I can't lift my fingers to my laptop!)

I started late in the process so I'm about to start week 5 of the training (Missed the first 3.5 weeks....oh well!) So far, my knees are a bit leery of this whole idea, my legs are sore anytime I sit for more than a couple of minutes at a time and my quads don't like the idea of going down stairs....however, there is a certain exhileration in remembering that I can run for more than 2 minutes and my body does have a glimmer of recognition of days gone by that it enjoyed the feeling of working out and being in shape. I even dare to hope that it will give me more energy at work and home and help me think more clearly, sleep more deeply and generally be a happier person! (Did I mention getting back into my favorite old clothes as well?!)

Ok - enough rambling for the evening. Off to take a nap so I can drive Ron home when he finishes working on Mom's machine!
